What might be my easiest option to rebarrel a 99, it is 308 now looking for something different, I have a rebore 358 win via JES already so I have a big lead slinger LOL I thought maybe some barrel outfit was making them but contacted several seems nothing going, It is a true a 110 barrel with the nut removed is close with some work? Heard that being thru around in a old thread somewhere else.
Thanks,
John

Is it a 99C/99CD, or a rotor magazine? Barrels are the same, but there are some cartridges that are easier to convert to in a removable magazine model.

I've got a few Savage barrels and am paring back. If you want something cool though how about having Chris/ctw here make you a custom barreled 99?

this is a rotary mag, I have a 22-250 that was born a 250-3000 and was rebarreld by the previous owner with a Shilen barrel, real take driver as long as the loads are moderate, does not like hotter loads. I was thinking the 6.5 creedmoor would be a good fit, due to case similarities to 308, my 358 is one short in the magazine but functions perfectly and that was born a 308, but 358 win is that case anyway. I collect a few but only one 99 savage I have is orginal that is a 308 99 PE that was my dad's rifle, I guess I am like the odd LOL

7mm-08 would be a really sweet deer or elk rig. That would be my first choice. 6.5 cm would be nice but it would not allow for the longer bullets, so makes no sense. 7mm-08. Bob

Yea now you mention it that is true, longer bullets which are very useful probably not gonna work in that gun, thanks for the heads up on that.

7mm08 cartridge specs are for an overall length of 2.800" or less, 308 specs are for 2.810" or less.
Any standard loading for 7mm08 will work.
