I can understand helping business's that had to shut down and employees who are, or might be laid off. But giving retirees money is just nuts. My wife and I are both retired so why is Uncle Sam giving us $1,200 each? We haven't worked in years. They could of cut 100's of billions from the package if they would of eliminated giving money to people who are no longer part of the work force. Or am I missing something? They gave Africa 3 billion in the bill so why not give retirees money also.

I aint provided a account or routing # in the paper work other than what is on the bottom of the sent in check.

If they are smart enough to figure out my direct deposit from the check info on their own.( which I severely doubt) or send me a hard copy treasury check.

it's just trickle up, folks. give it to everybody, below $100,000 a year income, why?
because people over that income will probably save it or invest it...no short term boost.
under $100,000 folks , esp far under, will put it right into the economy, keep stores going, restaurants, take out, fast food, car parts, taxis, etc
all poor choices, but........
it moves up the chain immediately.

I filed my taxes last month, included the routing numbers then. This stimulus rebate will come to that same routing and acct number they have.
Works out easier that I already sacrificed a Saturday in January to get our taxes done.

LOL, the same people who crucified Obama for throwing $3 billion into an economic recovery plan (Cash for Clunkers) are now fine with Trump throwing $2 TRILLION into the same program.
This is one time when the Democrats had the better plan. I'll get $2400. I don't need it, and won't spend it. I'll save it. I do have a son and daughter who could at least temporarily lose jobs and they have a house payment and kids to raise. If needed I may have to help them through a tough spot. But not everyone has a safety net like my kids and grandkids.
The Democrats plan was to put the money into unemployment so those who lose their jobs would get more money for longer if needed. This one time payment isn't going to be nearly enough for a lot of folks, and will pad the bank accounts of many like myself who don't need it.
Most people don't really want the truth.
They just want constant reassurance that what they believe is the truth.

There are a lot more retirees living on SS alone that barely make ends meet. Go to a McDonalds,such and watch all the seniors get cheaper food which is probably the only meal they will have that day. If it bothers you so much,donate the money to a needy charity or some family that needs it Very flawed analogy Eating out anything if you’re barely scraping by is pure ignorance and most likely the root cause of why someone like that doesn’t have a pot to piss in when they’re old and feeble. When I began to read your post I thought it might be about hard working older seniors who have returned to work at a McDonald’s, not eating there. A thrifty person can eat a bowl of oatmeal and fry a egg everyday for a week compared to eating breakfast or lunch just once at Mickey Dees. Eggs are a buck a dozen, and a small barrel of oatmeal is $3 ($4 all week Eating everyday at McDonald’s, even on the cheap value meal ($7) x 7days = $49 We all know your thoughts on seniors as you have posted before about them You have obviously never had the $1hamburger and you can get a hotdog and drink at Costco for $1.50.Around here eggs are darn site more than a $1 a dozen and the hamburger or hotdogs give them protein. Even I don' t pay $7at McDonalds .Two $1 hamburgers

If we actually manage to get the proposed funds (which I'm prone to doubt will happen) the money will go directly to support my daughter's startup restaurant that's on the verge of going belly-up because of lost business due to the "take-out or delivery" rules they have to comply with. I've already got a substantial investment in that business which will simply evaporate if they're forced to close down. Just because we happened to work hard all our lives, pay our bills, and live within our means until retirement doesn't mean we're willing to refuse the opportunity to get back a minuscule fraction of the money our government has squandered over the decades we've been contributing to the greedy monster that's been picking out pockets since the mid-1950's!

A lot of seniors who have their retirement funds in the stock market have definitely taken a hit.
Personally, I object to people on welfare etc. who will get this. They are no better or worse off than before the virus. Unless they get sick it will not impact them in the least. So why do they get it?
