Wife and I are retired, both get pension checks, both get SS checks, and are required to take a % of our investments do to age. With no payments for house , cars, or other loans, we put a good chunk of this in the bank every month. I also run a nice business out of my house as an independent contractor, that has seen a slight turn down because of the virus, so it looks like I could get some help also. Because of this, it's hard for me to accept this gov. money, and wife and I have decided to give it all to our favorite charities. Good idea if you don't need it, or give it to people who you know who could use a little extra. Just cause you get it, doesn't mean you need to keep it.

It is what it is. No plan hatched on the run like this was in these circumstances is perfect. Some who shouldn't benefit will and some who should benefit won't. Its the polution that both sides have built into the system. If you can, everyone needs to help anyone who is in need regardless of age, even if its just in a very small way right now that has nothing to do with money. The only one positive take away from all of this is the fact that older people tend to die sooner than younger people, and eventually all of the young ones who thump their chests about the weaknesses of the old today will find them selves there too some day. Just like the current older population did 30-40 years ago. Unless of course, some old guy "offs" a few of the younger critics before then. Never underestimate the hidden ability of old people with more experience......

You mention rising prices; do you know that this will be as inflationary as anything Obama did?
I am not aware of anything that Obama did that was this inflationary (and where DID that inflation go?). What Trump has done is not only far worse, he has no room to work with the fed to do a damn thing about it. He ran them out of the economic control market to the extent they ever had any. A colossally stupid move. Again. Seriously man? Have you never heard of “quantitative easing”? You’re just as bad as others here. You’re all changing tunes for Trump’s sake; you hate him so you’ll oppose a keynesian move. They support him so they’ll support one after opposing it from others. Principles matter more than personalities whether that’s Obama or Trump. I’m a Conservative first.

Thank you Donald. You set the Libs hair on fire again! They can't stand that the regular people might benefit a little.

That's why I dislike Trump He is a massive liar, incompetent politician, and his only principle is "Do unto me, what I want to be done onto me". Now, how much inflation due to Obama?

Snowolf: You are making yourself look, well, dumb! You mentioned the "KEY" in your posts heading - "STIMULUS" - ergo, "I" as a "retiree" and with well over half a century (57+ years!) of paying federal taxes (ongoing!) I am sure "I" can stimulate the economy just as well as ANY working stiff. Sheesh - what don't YOU understand? I can't wait to spend (thus stimulating the economy!) my money. Double sheesh. Retirees spend money too. We spent $25 on a pizza at the local lodge restaurant last night to help out, when otherwise we would have eaten home cooking. All they can do is take out, so why not get a pizza and leave an extra big tip for those that make a good chunk of their living that way. The guy bringing the pie out to the car seemed very grateful. If we get any money, $2400 for the two of us would be great, I'll be using it to help pay for the electrician to come put a transfer switch on our well so I can hook up a genset to it in times of outages. It's basically our only drawback. I can get water from the reservoir 2 miles away, and run it through the filter, but why hassle if I can get it from the well. Any money they "give" to me, will be used locally..............unless gunbroker et al have some goodie I "need" Geno Exactly. It will go out into our circulation. Makes sense to me . And just think, just try to envision if you will, how much would go local and into circulation if we’d only pay the black folks their Reparations ? Fugg Boys, we’d all be back on our feet and the economy would absolutely roar !!!

My SIL is a CPA. It's her opinion this is only a loan. In other words. This will come out of our income tax returns until it is paid off. We owe $1800 this year. I really don't want them to send me $1200 and then to have them ask for it and the $1800 back as well.

Does anyone here remember Nancy Pelosi saying back during the Obama years that welfare was great because it put that money right back into the economy ?
If they’re gonna give out money, then EBT cards might be a better way to consider. A little harder to use those cards for purchasing dope on the street. Issue them with expiration dates so that they’re used for essentials. The system is already in place.
Just a thought that’s probably already been discussed here.

kwg It’s my opinion from what I have read is that this money will simply be added to w2 or 1099 as income. IOW, not a loan.
