I just sent my ID number in to them. Any farmers get anything out of that?

Big farmer here claims to have gotten about a $100,000. Don't know if it's true or not.

My Dad just got a check. Wasn't big $ but he wasn't planting much, mostly enough to keep himself occupied. Neighbor had most of the ground rented.

Waiting on the money from some of these lawsuits is kind of like waiting to see what you're going to get for Christmas. Years ago, after I'd quit growing tobacco, I got a letter telling me about some sort of lawsuit that had been filed on behalf of tobacco growers against something that I can't even remember now. I filled the paperwork out, and mailed it back in, and forgot about it. Over a year later, the checks started rolling in, and I got thousands out of the deal.
Hopefully, Richard, you'll rack up too.

David, It's a lawyers dream. The seed company, and it's been so long ago, I forget details, put some genetics out before legal time. At the time China would not buy corn with that trait. That all coincided with a sharp drop in the corn market, and the lawyers smelled blood.
If anyone has a better explanation, I'll give up the podium.

Not to mention that extra tidbit about the retroactive settlements too. Count on them being able to discover that backdoor provision. Icing on the cake. So to speak

The seed business, especially the seed corn business, is a very lucrative and in many ways, a screwed up one. I know some farmers that get huge kickbacks from buying certain brands of seed corn, as an example, Beck's. My son graduated college with an agriculture business degree, and went to work for a local business that sold Garst seed corn. After a few years there, he took over as the Golden Harvest seed representative in the area. About a year later, Golden Harvest was acquired by Syngenta, and he would have had to relocate if he wanted to stay on. He did not want to move, as he had just started building a new house.
As with any big corporation, Syngenta doesn't care who's toes it stepped on, and they pretty much thought they could do as they pleased. I'm glad to see them having to pay up, and hope that the farmers get some big bucks out of them.
