Is it a ADL or BDL? Hard to tell in the pics

I have one of that original Ti's produced near the end of that generation's run, as well as a KS & the wrist on the Ti is noticeably thicker than on the KS.

In this pic, the difference is not too noticeable, but in the hand it's easily felt. Both work, but for me the KS design is by far my favorite with the closest being a Dakota 76 or one of the old MPI Dakota stocks. The KS was available as a special order from McM after their run for Rem was over, but I don't know if they still are available or not.

Last I heard, McMillan will still make a KS stock. However, it comes with a $100 or $125 "special order" upcharge. I agree with MM, the KS stock is the best factory stock I've owned.

McMillan will still make the KS, I just ordered one from Rick. $100 special order charge and an extra wait (I was quoted 8-12 months but Rick thought that was a conservative estimate) because it is a special set up. I will post on the actual wait time when I receive mine.

That’s great to hear and the most up to date info. The last time I called (within the year) they were unwilling to do a singleton. I better talk to Rick.

I said I would update this thread when my KS stock was done. I just got the notice from Rick that it is done and ready to ship. I ordered 12/3 so the wait was just under 4 months and well short of the 8-12 months I was quoted.

Awesome. Kudos to you jdunham for the update. On most forums I often, quite often actually, come across the last post in a thread which reads something like: "I will provide an update next week". Then, you look at the date and it is a year or more prior. You see something new every day.

I was going to build a 30-06 KS with a Defiance Rebel action and Lilja barrel turned to finish at .60 at 24 inches. That was my original plan. I found a Remington Ti 30-06 while I was waiting and started playing with that. That did not want to shoot and I should have sent it down the road but I love the way the rifle feels and carries. I ended up putting my KS barrel on that and that is due back any day.
So now I could either throw the modified Ti into the KS or order a new barrel and build a KS with the Defiance and KS stock. Maybe a .280 or .280AI. I am up in the air.

The Ti stock and the KS are almost identical overall, not saying they are as good but as far as overall measurements they are sure close. The Gander stock does have a thicker grip, think it just depends on when they where made but all the older ones where pretty nice IMHO.

Frank, beautiful stable of 700’s there. Is that bottom KS a 280? It looks just like a friend of mine’s that sold it here a year or so ago. Incredible rifle.

Nick - yes thats a KS .280 that I bought in 1992. I did have the stock painted a few years ago by darrenk here in the fire when he was still painting stocks.

Well ... that was damn close.
April 21st and they arrived!
Impressive.
One thing that isn't ... these things are getting heavier. Even with graphite and edge fill, they are coming in at 30 oz (KS with pad and studs).
Jdunham, have you had a chance to weigh yours?

No, not particularly happy about that part. Everything else is pretty well done save some epoxy over run from the sling swivel backing that will need to be sanded out of the barrel channel on one of them. Minor stuff.

That is interesting. Mine weighs 31.6 oz and is the standard fill and has pillars.
