Hoping to find some answers on a 700 ADL I am putting together. I have only ever had BDL models. I always wanted a 700 SS Alaskan ti 280 but didn’t want to pay the price so I am piecing one together but in ADL configuration.. I bought a 700 SS ADL 3006 from gunbroker. It came in a camo plastic stock. I had a 280 mtn rifle barrel spun on it and dropped it in a Ti takeoff stock. The issue I am running into is that the mag box has about 3/16 of play in it from touching the receiver to the stock mag box inlet. The mag can move up and down in there. I did a little research and come to find that the mag box should have a tab on the back that gets screwed to the action. The mag box that came with the gun has no tab. So did someone put a bdl mag box in this adl stock?

I don’t have enough experience with ADLs to know what the correct setup is.

Besides the tab for screwing it to receiver ADL mag boxes are about 3/16" deeper than a BDL mag box, top to bottom. At least all I have had were.

A mall wood shim in the bottom of the magazine well will fix the issue for nothing in less than 5 minutes.

One consideration and why I do not use the tab screws on ADLs is the need to make sure they are not locked together. When bedding I put a piece of paper between the magazine box and the action to ensure some play. You do not want the action to confuse the magazine box for a recoil lug.
