3M's CEO is scheduled to be on Fox & Friends this morning, according to a friend of mine who sells for 3M. Anyone wanna bet he's in full-on "Pass the Buck" mode. We didn't know, blah blah blah. We couldn't control blah blah blah. A real leader would've wondered how in the heck are people running out in the USA when we're making 10 Million masks/week. I better check on where they're going.
I can walk on water.......................but I do stagger a bit on alcohol.

Let's clear something up. It's 3M distributors that were doing that. Do we know if 3Ms distributors are independent? If they are, then 3M didn't sell the masks overseas.
Jared Moskowitz told "Tucker Carlson Tonight" Thursday that he discovered that 3M distributors were prioritizing foreign buyers after they refused to sell him the essential equipment.
He also said that 3M did not put measures in place after this outbreak and The President's declaration to make sure this didn't and couldn't happen.

I guess not, please explain how selling to the highest bidder with CASH is fulfilling contracts. Sounds like capitalism to me. You hate capitalism it appears. But then, so many here do.

Pillow guy had his company convert to mask production, I don't think masks are very hard to make. Every state should assist local companies to produce. Personally I don't think this is complex. My buddy, who works for 3M and I began this talk last night. This morning he sends me this:
Him: My take on 3M statement this morning: Basically, 3M is a global company that makes mask here in the US for Canada and Latin America. We have commitments there as well as US. It’s a global pandemic.
Me: I hope that flies with people. I think people believe its a US company first and foremost. Not that its right but that could be the perception.
Him:No doubt. But with over 50% + of our medical stuff shipped in from China, we better hope China doesn't take that approach.
There are 2 rules to success:
1. Never tell everything that you know.

I'll type slowly so you understand a bit better. (Though I doubt it..) Sometimes a company has to do what's right. 3-M is an American corporation. Pick your battles. Serve your own first. Then if there's left overs, send them abroad. I quit wondering if you are that stupid awhile back. I'm convinced.

There are no hard and fast rules and clearly the current situation IS an exception to unfettered capitalism. The US Government was sending royalties to Mauser for the 98 design when we started building the 1903 Springfield. Those royalties stopped in 1917 when we entered the war. The Brits did not send two completed battleships to Argentina and Brazil for the same reasons.Just like now it makes perfect sense to me for the same government to dictate to 3M where to SELL (notice I did not day "confiscate") masks and right now it should be here..Simple really..

The problem with Capitalism in this case as I see it is we won't learn hard lessons from this.
Will Capitalism allow us to make the unpopular but best interest decisions to have us prepared for the next major crisis?
Like mandating that a company such as 3M do not source from China or Africa for these types of medical supplies?
Will the US subsidize 3M to protect our interest in the event we have another 100 year pandemic in 5 years?
