Small update here ....... I received some advice from a very helpful member here who explained to me that English walnut would be a more fitting wood for this project. Based on his advice and a bit of research, I bought the following blank this week. It's a bit understated, but a good fit for this "working gun" and has good grain through the wrist. Sometimes I prefer the plainer walnut to exhibition. That is a lovely blank with nice mineral streaking.

It's coming along! Thanks for the update. She should be a beauty when the dust settles.

It's turning out very nice. Any idea what the final weight might be?

Got the following note today from the builder. Very pleased with the weight as well. Didn't state the load. Put your gun together between stages of finish and shot it, 7/8,1 3/8. I would be content with that if there was no wind and there was a 24 km wind!
Weight is 8.3 lb with scope.

I would knock the square tips off that forend like right now. LOL ......... The Rigby forend is squared off where the stock meets the bbl. as well. In keeping with the original, I think I will leave it as is. The rounded look you like is more "American" than this.

I found this rifle a while back on GI. I like this stock a lot.
