How about some calibers when you post those fine rifles.. I think Gee had that .300 H & H with a gobbler before.. Carry on.. 10/4 That is correct. I tend to duplicate pix in posts if it fits the occasion. Feel free to give me jazz when they become over exposed. Getting Lucky used to mean one thing. Today, at my age it means walking from one room to another and remembering why I did! That rifle began life as a Remington 700 Custom KS, chambered for 375 H&H. The original owner sent it to Hill Country Rifle to have it rebarreled to 300 H&H and accurized. After I got my mitts on it, I applied a skosh of webbing spray and some clear acrylic finsh coat And a few I checked zero on before I went to "The Petting Zoo" two weeks ago this Monday. L to R, Browning X-Bolt Max Long Range, 6.5 PRC ( Hornady Factory 143 gr. Eld-x) Armalite AR-10, 308 Win., 165 G. Sierra Spitzer Remington 700 Custom Shop, 300 Win Mag, 180 Gr. Nosler Accubond Steyr SBS, Classic Mannlicher, 8MM Mauser (8 x 57 JS) 200 gr. Nosler Partiton ya! GWB

Have not taken critters with any size to them. Just stuff for makin' meat But I've about decided that the 143 Gr. ELD-X out of the 6.5 PRC are a bit frangible at 120 yds and under for my taste. May get a chance soon to try them on something larger at 200 yds or so. Entry ya! GWB

GW Is that bird eyeing your piglets something foreign or ????? Kara Kara or as most people here call them a Mexican Eagle. Pretty common in South Texas but they are expanding thier range further north into Texas. They are native to Mexico and South Texas.

GW Is that bird eyeing your piglets something foreign or ????? Years ago you almost never saw Crested Caracara's (AKA Mexican Eagles) https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Crested_Caracara/idHowever, they are quite common in South Texas, the Gulf coast and Texas hill country. They are almost always in pairs. You see one, pretty soon the other bird will show. In my experience, where there numerous birds of prey, the Caracara's will usually be the first to a downed animal. If you put out a remote call with a quiver rabbit, they will typically show up within a couple minutes. I saw behavior by the pair pictured in the tree above while on the recent 24hour campfire hog hunt, two different times in the same field. Armadillos would come out to dig for grubs and such, and the Caracaras would fly down and land near them. At first I thought this would be fun to see them try to peck at the 'dillos. Rather, the birds followed them closely. Seems that they were intercepting the stuff the dillo's were digging up. ya! GWB

Gee, those eagles were interesting to see.. My late wife was a real bird watcher.. I saw several of those on a hunt to McAllen many years ago.. She was upset she missed the chance because she went to see her mom.. Beautiful birds..
