Well, our district just announced that any work completed would not be graded.

Pisses me the absolute the F off, as my boys were really figuring it out this year. Both were just one B shy of a 4.0 GPA last term, with an extremely good possibility of achieving 4.0 this final quarter.

As well, it appears that the schools aren't really all that concerned at the quantity of work that they're assigning either. They gave us a three week packet 10 days ago, with another three week packet to be picked up April 20. No distance learning here, as too many kids have zero online access.

We're now looking at online study courses to keep their little minds busy. May just get the older boy signed up for a Python coding course. Nothing wrong with a little introduction to algorithmic thinking.

Anyway good on you and the rest of the teachers that are going the distance.

Could hold them back for another year. Might mean a few more $$$ for the system too.

AOC says reparations are due for that.

It is legit. She has been using this happening to push "inequality" quite hard. Clearly she means "of outcome", though she hasn't explicitly said that that I have seen.

If they convince them this virus is indeed racist.....may make the Rodney King fiasco look small.

Thanks for the data point.

My district is 99.9% white. Affluent. Still, we have kids not showing up to virtual classes.

I mentioned earlier, running at about 85% participation/attendance/submission of work. I have them fully online as well, since the district I work in has a 1:1 computer policy for years now.

For those looking for online assistance or something to keep your own kids going, I can offer that Kahn(already mentioned ad nauseum) BozemanBiology, CrashCourse, and AmoebaSisters offer a good blend of fast paced review, slower simpler, and in depth explanation. Between those 4 sources you can get a lot of bang for your internet connection buck.

I'd be curious what online free coding courses anyone knows about. i'd like to get my own kids hooked up with that.

Though its more traditional, you can download math worksheets for about any grade level or subject out there. Most have answer sheets available for those who skipped HS math.

Lastly, and I am rather certain I am preaching to the choir here on the fire, but thats to get your kids involved in real problem solving and real projects.

I’d bet more than half of those infected in New Orleans are black.

Reparations...just what is that $1200 check they are getting working or not. Candace Owens says she will run for AOC 's Senate seat.
