Years ago you almost never saw Crested Caracara's (AKA Mexican Eagles)

https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Crested_Caracara/id

However, they are quite common in South Texas, the Gulf coast and Texas hill country.

They are almost always in pairs.

You see one, pretty soon the other bird will show.

[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]

In my experience, where there numerous birds of prey, the Caracara's will usually be the first to a downed animal.

If you put out a remote call with a quiver rabbit, they will typically show up within a couple minutes.

I saw behavior by the pair pictured in the tree above while on the recent 24hour campfire hog hunt, two different times in the same field.

Armadillos would come out to dig for grubs and such,

and the Caracaras would fly down and land near them. At first I thought this would be fun to see them try to peck at the 'dillos.

Rather, the birds followed them closely. Seems that they were intercepting the stuff the dillo's were digging up.

I used to see those a lot, 10 to 15 years ago, along 83 in the Birds of Prey Corridor between Laredo south to McAllen.

Then it prolly don't matter much if it gets tossed about.

Anywho,

[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]

as I tend to operate within a narrow band of mediocrity, I don't know much about schitt scopes!

As scopes go,mechanics trump everything else. 150+ MOA erectors are nice and I'm a fan,but no scale upon same,is a bust.

The reticle is absolute Dog Schit(which I knew going in,but it's way worse than anticipated) and lack of parallax hurts, where it's the "best" at. "Clicks" aren't very tactile, despite being .5MOA per each(Ele and Wind). FFP is the only way to fly and Daylight Illumination,do not suck,if only in fairness.
