Finally got the lathe bed back from having it machined. It’s a 16x56 Springfield. Coming together.

Bench vise probably didn't do those threads any good... Barely even touched. Really just resting there. Threads are pretty skookum.

Lathe bed was estimated @~1500. Each base about 400. Head stock moved w the engine hoist, so maybe 300+. Gear box a little more than 100? More parts to go yet.

Obey lawful commands. Video interactions. Hold bad cops accountable. Problem solved.

That’s the funny part. His work is primarily “airsmithing”. Custom paintball gun work. He has shop skills galore, though. Docsmachine.com is his site. Not really an ad for him so I hope rick don’t mind that. He has a lot of cool projects and other things posted there.

It is real neat having Equipment that Can Build Other Equipment and the knowledge to know how to work them. Congrats to your Neighbor for bringing this piece back to life.
Yesterday I was in a shop Inspecting and they had probably 100 pieces of old equipment Breaks , Presses ,Lathes, Mills Shaper's and many others I walked around like a Kid in a Candy store. The owner came out and talked to me and He knew where he got every piece and told me the history about some of them.
Congrats again to your friend

Those old rock solid machines in the hands of some old goat that knows how to use them will out perform today's lightweights. I love to see someone saving and restoring them. One of the lost arts today are those knowledgeable in scraping the ways.

Can he thread and chamber barrels? I'm certain he can, but that's not what he primarily does. No FFL.
