I'd be interested is a couple pair of extra low Talley's as well.

QD scope mounts in general seen to be a bit to high for my tastes. The QD mechanism for most models just appear to require the extra height or 'space' to operate.

Talley LWTs are made for people mounting what I consider to be higher powered scopes, i.e., 3 X 9's, etc. Some people, such as myself, much prefer lower powered variables, i.e., 1.5 X 5 - 20mm objective, 1.75 X 6 - 32mm objective. I once bought a Swarovski 3 X 10....mounted it, and didn't like it. Nice scope, but I don't need or like anything over 6X. So I sold the scope and bought another Leupold 1.5 X 5. That scope in low LWT Talleys looks silly. I'm currently building a sheep rifle (M-70 SS 30/06 Featherweight, Brown Pounder) and want to mount a short tube Leupold 1.75 X 6 in extra low LWT Talleys, and they aren't available. The regular low LWTs look awkward when you combine a 32mm objective with a Win. featherweight's virtually shankless barrel contour.....and the line of the sight is unnecessarily high above the bore. Currently I'm going with Conetrol lows....they're nice and low but are steel, complicated, and heavy. But I may try someting else.

I think, personally, that Gary is being stubborn and not serving a market that is calling for extra-low LWTs. ( Maybe I'll try to call Melvin Forbes next week.)
