Does anyone know the difference between the basic Timney Trigger and the Elite Hunter Trigger? The basic or what I think is the basic has the model code "510" and the Elite has "510V2" which sort implies it is an upgrade or newer model as Version 2.
I am looking to install one in my 1975 Remington Model 700. Any thoughts? The website and mail order houses are not real descriptive as far as what the difference is.

Just returned an Elite Hunter to Brownells, creep was unacceptable.
Timney website indicates the #510 no longer in the picture...replaced by the Elite Hunter???
Midway still offers #510, so I ordered one to replace the Elite Hunter.
FWIW, last 3-4 #510's I've gotten have been outstanding out of the box.

Just a thought......check out a TriggerTech. They are very good 700 triggers in my experience.

Well now I'm confused......I always followed some friend's advice, Sisk and Mann on the Timneys and that's where I was focused. So will TriggerTech fit a 1975 Remington 700? They are a little different than newer models. I know a Timney will work on the older Remingtons with some fitting. Wasn't sure about TT.

In my opinion, the Timney #510 is tough to beat for a single stage hunting trigger. And yes I’ve used numerous TriggerTechs as well.

The best way to know if TT will fit a 1975 rifle is to ask TriggerTech. All I can tell you is that I have had several Timneys and think they are good triggers. But I think TT is the best on the market today for a M700hunting rifle. Mine are on newer rifles than yours, however.

OP, Do not confuse a 721/722 rear tang w/ any vintage of a 700.
Timney trigger groups are non repeatable JUNK.
Trigger Tech is your best option for a hunting rifle trigger group.

I have posted many issues with them over the years on here. Mislabeled triggers, repeatability, burrs on working surface, soft parts, etc. Supposedly they had a bad time during the divorce of the owner, but my experiences went far beyond them. I believe I have just one currently in a rifle and have several I have swapped out of rifles due to issues of several kinds, mostly repeatability.

How about let someone who knows what he's doing go over the original trigger?

So the Custom Shop C Grade finally arrived. Mathman, I think you are correct. I have three Model 700s. A BDL from 1979 and a Classic from the mid 80s. The BDL trigger is great, never had a problem with it. The Classic trigger, has a tiny bit of hitch in it but I seldom shoot that gun and it is very accurate as is. I was concerned about this new to me 1975 one because of reading a lot on the internet, etc. So now I have the C Grade in hand and the trigger breaks like glass, but my RCBS trigger gauge says 4lbs even after five pulls. It may have been tuned by the custom shop. I took the rifle apart and the trigger is clean. I spoke to my gunsmith and he confirmed he works on 700 triggers. Said he'd be glad to take a look at it and can work on it as needed. I may have him look at it to make sure it is clean, maybe lighten it a tad. I trust him though and he may tell me to not fix something that doesn't need fixed.
