It's the best American made .22 ammo by far and I shoot a ton of .22's. Everything from Win. and Rem. is inconsistent crap in comparison.

I don't own one, but I like the Remington 552 BDL. Walnut and steel autoloader that'll shoot shorts, longs, and long rifles.

Anschutz 54 action model 1700.

Cooper 57M.

Older Kimber model 82's made in Oregon.

PS: Edited to add Winchester and Browning reproductions of the model 52 sporter

I’d go with an anschutz 1700 series, for a highly accurate 23 lr.

Well yeah. Mine is a 39M. Although not a factory offering anymore. Custom shop maybe, but I think I heard upwards of 2 g's.

Again, how much do you want to spend? Plenty of older used rifles out there, as well as new ones.

The 552 receiver is aluminum.

Yep but for working stiffs CCI Standard Velocity is pretty excellent.

There's a lot of "best" rifles out there. Fact is I have 4 that are best, each having a different application. One that I play with the most?

Did I hear somebody say you can't reload the vaunted .22 LR? HORSEFEATHERS!

Reloads aren't quite as accurate, but I'm working on it.

Browning.

Due to the increased price of ammo, don't expect a warning shot...

Anschutz. Pure quality, beauty and functionality. You get what you pay for.

Mod 17D

On the home from Kimber makes a sweet .22, especially the used models built in Clackamas.

How much do you want to spend?

Blued steel and walnut? SS and plastic?

I hear great things about the Ruger American, but I would take the 10-22 for half the cost.

Or there is the Savage Mark II BVT which I like with the laminate thumbhole stock and heavy barrel.

I’ve got an older Marlin, and a 2 year old Ruger American in .22 LR. Either one will give me minute of Squirrel out to 50 yards or so with those Remington “Golden Bullets”
I’ve tried several different flavors of ammo in both of them. Even a few of the expensive match stuff.
Really haven’t found anything that much more accurate than the Remington stuff, especially if you factor in the cost and ease of availability. It’s good, it’s cheap, and it doesn’t fowl (or Is it foul) my rifles.
If I was into serious competition I’d maybe find something especially good, but for head shooting squirrels for the pot and plinking for practice, I’m happy with it.
