If I had the $$$, a Vudoo w/ a TriggerTech, in a Bravo chassis. Topped w/ a Nightforce. Start the ammo search w/ Lapua Center X or S&K. Not gonna happen this week! Anyone need a kidney?
Real world attainable- a Tikka TX1 w/ a SWFA would work just fine.

There's all kinds of beautiful, accurate .22 rifles out there. But they need to have a good night's sleep if they're going to outshoot a $150 Marlin model 795 from Walmart.

Not a good reputation for accuracy, but I like my customized Ruger 77/22. Stainless with walnut stock, Green mountain barrel, sweet trigger, looks great and is accurate, around 3/8 at 50.

While I don't believe it's "the best", the newest .22 rimfire arm that I've been playing with is a T1X with a 16" barrel.



Here's a sample of 10 shot groups, but only 25yards as it was a windy day.



Again, I doubt it's "the best" but for the price of admission it does seem to want to shoot.

The Tikka T1x MTRwould be a good choice.


So would the Steyr Zphyr,if you like a more traditional looking .22 rifle.

I dont think there is a "best" when it comes to 22s. Here's why...
My favorite is a Win 62A pump action that I learned to shoot with, my dad bought it for my mom in 1948, its mine now and will be handed down again.
Next comes my Win 94/22 lever action. I bought one of these for me and each of my sons when they were in 8th grade
Then comes my Ruger 77/22 with Leupold 4x scope, tack driver.
Then, in pistols comes my Colt Woodsman. Huntsman, Ruger Mark 4
Ok....enough

So the OP should be very confused with many great options!

If he is reading, what is the purpose/application and what is your budget? Do you have a preference on type of action and sights?

Just because it is expensive ammo, doesn't mean it is the "best". I always let my rifle tell me which is "best"... This one for example:



Now, if we are talking rifles, then that is a totally different story... Depends on how much the op wants to spend I guess... I hear the Tikka T1x is pretty good, but is it the best? Not hardly... "Best" is very subjective when it comes to rifles and ammo...

My T1 is the best I've ever shot. It beats my CZ 452 American, which is the 2nd most accurate 22 I've shot.

For ammo Federal Match is more accurate in my rifles, but CCI 40 gr MiniMags at $8/100 rounds is a very close contender and what I shoot the most. For the money it is more accurate than I need.

Ammo, SK standard+ and Wolf match, Norma target as well. Many are made by the same company. CCI is the standard, if a rifle or pistol won't shoot CCI standard acceptably and function, something is wrong.

Yep. Hard to beat for the money.

If I was buying a bolt action, then the Ruger American.

And for a lever action, the the little Brownings are fun!

A $496 retail. CZ457 American. I haven't checked, but suspect a $400 street price. Lotta class with a very good reputation for accuracy per dollar. Other barrel/stock options as well.

If someone can post a picture for me I can show you what my T1X will do at 50, 100, and 200 yards. 50 and 100 yards are indoor 200 is shot outside

2nd vote for more of a beater: Savage and Marlin.

If impressing friends matters, Anschutz or Cooper.

When we did shooting as part of a Boy Scout encampment a few years ago, we shot Federal match which we picked up CCI in Lewiston, ID and it was loaded at the CCI plant. Federal and CCI are all part of the same company.
