Who here is running a sako classic McMillan that has pics they are willing to share? How do like the feel of it? Pros/Cons?

Thinking of putting one on a tikka.

They are a very nice stock. Ran one for a season on a tikka during three hunts here in Colorado but ended up going back to a T3X stock as the cost wasn’t worth it to me for minor weight savings. Ergos fit me well and I like the open style grip for a general purpose Mtn rifle. Still have one on another another rifle. Some early ones inlet for t3 we’re not perfect and required bedding to avoid having the mag bind. They seem to have that all ironed out now.

I have the compact and the Classic both are nice stocks. Really not a lot of difference between the two other than the check weld. As stated not much difference in the weight but a world of difference in the looks and feel.. I would say they are perfect for a mountain rifle. I didn't have any issues with mine with bedding the mag but of course I use a mountain tactical bottom. I'm thinking about buying another one for sure.

My only concern is the swept grip - been shooting a lot of stocks recently with more vertical type grips. Only one way to find out. If I don't like it, I guess I can always flip it.

The sweep grip does feel different but doesn't effect my shooting ability at all. If you don't like it let me know.

I’ve got three of them on Tikkas. A 22-250, 270 and 6.5 CM. I like them a lot.

Will do...I have a black, standard fill that will be arriving tomorrow. Was so thrilled to find something ready to ship, that I ordered it prior to much research.

All I did was JB the lug, so it’s solid. No bedding has been required. Even the JB probably wasn’t needed but it took 15 minutes.

On a side note, have you tried any longer range shooting with this stock? Specifically from prone position? I'm not expecting the same ergos as a true LR stock, but would like to feel comfortable shooting out to 5-600 yards with it.

That’s the bulk of how I shoot my rifles. Prone over a backpack mostly. They work good for me. You don’t gain much weight savings from the Tikka stock but the ergos were way worth it to me.

Good thread guys. I'm curious on the grip ergos of the sako classic as well.

So I had a hunters edge pattern for the tikka. The way they had to inlet the action put the action further forward in that stock than say a rem700 would have been. So it took a very open grip and made it even more open. Does that make sense?

You guys with the classic sako stock, would you say that the grip is more "closed" than the hunters edge? By the pictures, it appears to be.

Does anyone have both the hunters edge and the sako classic, (both in tikka t3 inlet) that they could lay down and get a side by side pic of?

I have a Hunters EDGE on 70’s but none on the Tikka. Not sure if I compared them if it’d be any help.

I have the hunters edge in a tikka, sako classic in a tikka, game warden edge with proof and tikka, game scout in a tikka. Someone tell me which pics or side by side comparison pics you want, pm me a number and I'll send pics.I never get pics to work on this site.
