With all the talk about re-opening the economy, it got me thinking, what's actually closed where you are?
Here in WY, we may be isolated, we have low infection counts and just this week had our first death.
Reopening economy will actually take 2 things:
1) being told (by whomever) they can open 2) Customers to have money to spend
So what's closed here:
1) Schools are closed, but doing virtual classes, so teachers are getting paid, don't know about cafe workers, janitors etc. 2) bars closed 3) restaraunts can do takeout only, many are actually closed 4) doctor offices are open for emergency only 5) banks are open, but only drive through or appointments only
Many small businesses are actually open, but significant drop in customers due to social distancing, people self-isolating and layoffs
I've been up to Sheridan and things like Walmart, Home Depot and general traffic seem about normal, until you want food.
Outdoor stores are doing "ok" business according to 2 mangers I've spoken to, with the exception of guns, especially on line, those are high
Liquor stores are actually having record months.
Where you are, are things actually shutdown hard?

Much the same here in OK. Dental offices are closed except for emergencies, which I fully understand. Some manufacturing plants are closed if the virus was confirmed by employees. It is during this time I have thanked God for putting me here in wind swept Oklahoma.

Grammar is important. Capitol letters are the difference between "helping your Uncle Jack off a horse" & "helping your uncle jack off a horse".

Yes. Many churches stream their services over the internet and we've attended services through that since this began.

Most of the larger stores are open. Restaurants are closed. This is an agricultural area with a big emphasis on dairies. Farmers have had to dump milk because of the closed restaurants. We have cheese and yogurt plants here, too. They've been hit hard by losing their restaurant market.

My barber is closed as are all barber shops and beauty salons.
There is noticeably less traffic on the roads at all times of day but the parking lots of the large grocery and department stores are all full. Several have recently started limiting the number of people allowed inside at one time, so the lines to get in are at least 100 deep. I don’t wait on line for things so not sure how quickly they move.
Down in Vegas all the casinos are closed which makes it a bit strange to drive through there.
In any case this isn’t a real lockdown, more a lockdown lite.

Well, in our little backwater community, the only thing shut down is the school. The two little stores (a general store with the farm and ranch supplies and a convenience store) are still open. The post office and the telephone co-op office are still open. However, the two churches have curtailed their services, mainly because a very large proportion of those who attend are in the "old people" demographic who are at the greatest risk from infection.
I spend a lot of time outside, and I have noticed that the reduction in traffic on the two highways that intersect here is substantial.

This is just the first step in total government control.

Similar in western South Dakota. Governor taking a voluntary stay home stance. Eastern SD where Smithfield just closed the pork processing plant after 300 tested positive, there were 3400 people working there so there are hot areas in some towns with larger populations. Seems like all the rest is what is going on in the above posts. Churches are streaming, one had Easter services in the parking lot of a closed Shopko store with stay in your car conditions. Food was okay a few days ago, haven't been back lately. Lot of business's are open with restaurants doing take out and three were still doing sit down a few days ago. Schools closed with some online teaching. Rec center closed. The barber I use is taking appointments but I am headed for a pony tail as I am a bit concerned about going to his shop even with nobody else there. I am in the old age end of things and have some health issues that they say to be careful with so we stay home but that is really nothing new.

Wifey has kept her hard earned cosmo license up[renewed] even though she left that profession 30 years ago. Tonight we are cutting each others hair......I told her I would make 'straight cuts only and only in the back'

Stores are open most check temperature of shoppers and limit the amount of people inside. Emergency room will not let anyone in with a temperature. You must be referred to be tested outside for the virus. Take out only no bars open unless they sell takeout food. Liquor stores open and gunshops.
