So I went to the gun shop in Plano yesterday. I’d called ahead and they said they had a couple 1# jars of clays powder. They’re also the only Dillon dealer around so I was hoping to find a 45 acp conversion kit so I could move that caliber to the 550. I got there and there were 6 people standing in front of the store along with one employee. The employee points to a young Asian guy and says you’re next after him then asked me what I was there for. I told him powder and maybe a conversion kit. He says there is a limit of 2 jugs of powder per person and he doesn’t think they’ll have that conversion kit. I asked him how many people they had in the store. He said It’s a small shop so the they were only letting 4 people in at a time. I popped of before I thought about it and said well, I hope they’re not all 1st time gun buyers. I got a couple laughs out of that along with some sheepish grins from 3 of the people in line.

After about 45 minutes of listening to people bitch about the background check delays, I finally got in. They had more powder than I was expecting just not any Unique, 231, trail boss, or universal. I got 2 pounds of Clays and found the 45 conversion kit I was looking for. As I was checking out the old man asked if I found everything. I told him I’d have liked to have found some unique but I’d done better than I thought I would. He says hang on a sec and set an 8# jug of unique on the counter and told me somebody’d ordered it and not picked it up. I told him that that was more unique powder than I figured was for sale in the whole country right now and I’d be proud to take it off his hands. So not a bad trip. Got more powder than I thought I would and the kit I was looking for. Now I’ll need more cast boolits.

I was at Sportsman's in Ankeny yesterday waiting at the gun counter to get some powder. There was a guy ahead of me who asked for a 9mm. The salesman asked if there was any gun in particular he wanted to look at. He said "no, just any 9mm". The salesman showed him several guns but he walked out with nothing. They guy knew nothing about hand guns. He had a buddy with him coaching him but it didn't seem to help.

Spent quite a bit of money in there over the years myself.
Worked there part time a couple of years ago too.

I'm pretty stoked about the unique! Everybody online is out of stock and everybody I called local didn't have any. That 8# jug was a pleasant surprise. Got a new bench I’ll be putting together over the weekend. By Sunday I’ll have the Dillon 550 ready to roll.

It's all about being good to the people in the shop...
Glad you chalked up a win...
