New cars, and pickups from the factory, a few small dents, scratches, a bit of rust on the rear fenders.
They would not deprecate as fast that way. Never work of course.

There were a number of years where I swear Pontiac put out Firebirds in just that condition. For as many that were around, they had to be manufactured that way.

Diesel engines last a long time, often longer than the body. Why can't they sell new pickups without engines so a diesel owner can drop his almost broken in engine into a new one when the old one rusts apart?

When i was a little kid my granpa had a pair of plastic walk on water shoes. Never got to see a demonstration but he said they worked, but he was a really funny guy too. Real character.
