Serial number indicates date of manufacture was May 1960. The bore appears perfect to me, and nothing has been fiddled with in the stock below the waterline (i.e., it has never been bedded.) As far as I can tell, there is nothing about the gun that is not factory original. The handling marks are very minimal for a gun of this age (see the photo of the floorplate in the gallery; that has the most wear of anywhere on the rifle.) But most of you are more knowledgeable about pre-64s than I am, so please ask questions and ask for additional photos. The checkering in the photo above looks funky; that is merely an artifact of the resolution of the photo. The front sight looks bent in the other pic.. optical illusion or accurate? I think that photo was deceiving. By the way, I would be tempted to keep this rifle but it is right handed and I am not.

Why does it matter if it is right handed and your left my buddy and my aunt are left handed I shoot their rifles and they shoot mine I'm right handed I shoot a bow left handed but never had an issue not being able to shoot a left handed gun I shoot guns right handed although I have considered shooting left handed might practice when I an bored

I been gun trading for more years than I care to remember. I think I sold more guns, open to offers, than I did when I was closed-minded and offended/insulted by a poor offer. IMHO, offers are always welcome. That is the way gun trading flourished years ago. A polite non-explanatory refusal or I cannot take that should not make enemies ....rather friends..
That is a nice rifle and I have about 23 or 24 pre-64 70's. Good luck with your sale.
