This is an '04 Winchester that I got as a boy back in about 1954. My dad then found a Winchester scope and mounted it after I learned to shoot game with open sights. He bought the rifle back in the '30s before I was born....and my grandson will be using it in the same fashion.

Here's a better look at the scope. Entire rifle and scope has been reblued as it was pretty well worn but no rust. Parsons scope service put in new cross hairs recently.[Linked Image]

It's a 22 caliber...the barrel says 'Mod.04 22 Short-Long or Extra Long'.

Somewhere in a photo album around the house is a picture of me holding it on my birthday when I was given the scope. Many a time I've been tempted to sell the rifle when it's been on display at gun shows but even when asked to 'name a price', I've just grinned. Some things you can't put a price on. grin

I could have sold the scope alone a bunch of times but........

Hello
The quality of Long Guns has dropped to a Low level in today's world compared to the Vintage guns. This is my first .22 rifle that I got when I was 10.It Belonged to a Great Uncle and is a Remington Model 12-A Pump Made in 1913. It is still in may Gun safe after teaching my Daughter and it will eventually go to a grandchild some day. Thegeneral

grin Yep, that's a keeper for sure. It looks like you've had a quality redo and it is certainly deserving. Now to take 'em out and blow a few holes in tin cans.....what fun we had by not sitting in front of the TV like so many kids do today.

I clearly remember shooting my first woodchuck as he peeped his head up from his hole. I'd waited patiently for a long time laying in a field 50 yards away. Just had the new scope put on the Winny and was a real proud kid.

Nowadays it's illegal to even shoot a BB gun in many towns and cities. I can't even shoot the squirrels in my back yard that make my dogs bark.
