Gents,
I was gifted a really good looking AI laminate stock that it away being finished up currently. It was given to me by a friend in my department and my goal is to have it built by deer season and shoot a critter on his place with him. The stock is inlet for a lefty Rem 700 S/A and BDL metal.
I already had a fast twist .270wsm build in progress but was planning to do it on a Tikka for extra mag length (3.1" min-- planning to run 170 Bergers or 156 HHs). I want to use what I have for this build but do it on the new stock with a Rem or clone receiver. The barrel is a 24" HCA Summit Carbon fiber (should fit into the stock according to my measurements).
So- I need options!! It doesn't appear Remington ever made Left Hand SA receivers with a mag bolt face?? Here are my thoughts
1. LH Rem 700 SA-- trued, bolt face opened, lightened up and then run the new Wyatts PRC box (3.2") or the Bainey box (3.1")
---- Seems like this route would still cost as much as a custom clone... but it would get me the required mag length, which apparently most clones CANNOT accept the Wyatts PRC length box because the machining would affect the bolt stop and release?
2. New Defiance anTi-- lightweight, comes with a mag bolt face... but will only take the 3.00" wyatts...
3. Mesa Precision Summit Action-- Stainless or Ti-- has mag bolt face... and the feed ramp is notched and the bolt stop/receiver are set up far enough to possibly fit a Bainey Box, which could solve my problems
Thoughts on other options, experiences with these options??
