In a remarkable study, researchers report what they say is the first documented case in medical literature of a silicone breast implant altering a bullet's trajectory and most likely saving a woman's life.


According to the researchers, the bullet was on course to pass directly through the chest wall and might have struck the woman's heart, had it not been for a deflection in the projectile's trajectory due to the presence of the left implant.
"Based on trajectory of bullet entry clinically and evaluation radiologically, the only source of bullet deflection of the bullet is the left breast implant," the authors write.

I had a buddy (female) who was an Israeli paratrooper. She'd occasionally return to do jobs after emigrating to the U.S. One time I knew she was going on one of those trips and she didn't check in afterward. I went to her house to find out what was going on. She'd taken a hit in the tit from a 9mm bullet. Even though it was a ricochet, it messed her up good; a good luck charm I'd given her had slowed the bullet even more and probably stopped it from getting past the ribs and into the heart. She had worn it in her left breast pocket. Hits in the tit are nothing to laugh about.

Is it just me, or do those implants look huge?

I know of a case where a shooter attacked an office and killed a few people, but one woman survived because she was obese, and her fat absorbed hits from a .45 ACP. I heard this from the department head.
