I’ve been thinking about this while I’m working on a bunch of new deer lease stuff. I kinda half ass added it up. I’m over 450,000 in the 45 years I’ve been hunting. I’m counting hunting buggies,Jeeps, bird dogs, guns, campers, and stands-feeders. I know that’s 10,000 per year, but might be short still.
It’s been worth it!
How much do you thing you have spent?

Thinking of upgrading two scopes.
Maybe a new treestand and pair of early season boots. 8X binocs.
That'll hold me for a while.
Honestly, could just buy tags and run what I have.

LOL.
Probably not much compared to some.
I briefly had a couple of deer leases once, years and years ago.
Not too big on feeders. I only have one.
Do have a nice assortment of sporting arms and accessories that I hunt with though...

I don't own much, and don't use what I have as much as I should. Pathetic, but life got in the way. Fuggem all, I'm going turkey hunting tomorrow.

I probably could have spent less, some things were poor decisions. Most cry once stuff worked out the best. I have hundreds of thousands of public forest near me, so travel and licenses have been low cost.

I got rods and reels that have 3-4 hundred dollars of line on them, rod and reel cost more than a nice rifle.

Bought land fifteen years ago for $100K. Monetizing it out means the deer so far were only about $4,000 each. No way to rationally figure the answer to the question but the number is huge.

I couldn't say for sure.............. I should do a rough estimate someday but there are other people I know who would give some answers on that. Depending on who you ask it will either be "too much", or " What? that cheap S,O.B. spend money?".

I have plenty of rifles and a few hand guns as well as bows and crossbows and a lot of stands. Never spent a penny on land to hunt though, lots of state and fed land around here to hunt.
Like Stx, I've spent more on fishing the last few years than anything. And that is fresh water fishing, I can only imagine what is spent on salt water gear.

Mostly all fishing related, if rebuilding a cabin, and taxes, travel, food while we are at the cabin, garage sale buys, gifts for friends, hydro, and that's a lot, quite possibly a match for the national debt in 1960.
A better question would be, is it worth that much?

How much do you thing you have spent? First, what a silly question! Second, did your $10K/year include your lease fees there in TX? Geno PS, out west, we don't generally have to include feeders and lease fees...............just gas, wear and tear on the truck, motels for them that use them, non-resident tags and such............it's cheaper than lease fees.

I used to spend a lot more on training and comp than I did on hunting. I have never been a rifle looney and have spent more on tags and travel than I have on hunting rifles. Most of my outdoor gear and clothing is used for other stuff when not hunting.

I have never had to pay to hunt, public land has always been close. I have never had a landowner ask for a payment, they grant permission or they don't

I have no idea what I have spent on such since 1962, but all indicators say it is a low number when compared to what most others seem to spend, and it is minuscule in comparison to the benefits and enjoyment experienced. What a bargain !!
