Don't really want to know the exact amount, but over the years a new 22' power boat rigged with 4 electric Cannon Down Riggers, 10 poles and reels at about $250 each, enough tackle to outfit 4 boats and electronics to see 300' down and tell me the water temp, then there were guided hunts for elk, caribou, mule deer, hogs, and countless pheasants trips to Iowa, Dakota's, and Montana, Then custom rifles for all those trips, spotting scopes and good Swarovski binoculars, when I got old and tired of those things I got into clay target shooting, ending up with a 16K trap gun and shooting in competition in 4 states, usually for 3 or 4 days requiring lodging and meals, before I bought a 5th wheel RV that required a new 3/4 ton PU, the moved down to a 32' travel trailer and a new 1/2 ton PU. Then for a few year started collecting old Colt SAA, have 10 now @ about 2K each.
So, all of this with the blessing of my wife and no hardship on our life style or sending 3 kids through 12 years of college.
Looking back, would not change a thing.

Sam, and other good fire friends, a dream trip would be going fishing in NW Ontario. You got the money, I got the time.

Leave out the guns/rods/reels/tackle and not very much. Mostly license, ammo and boots/clothing. Most of my hunting is done pretty close to home so not much on gas either. Millions of acres of state land to hunt on around here plus I have permission on several private parcels. Never spent a dime on lease fees, feed, seed or guides.

There is no safe public land in Texas. Whatever there is has a sumbitch with a rifle behind every bush and tree.

Good reason to not live in Texas.

Nothing fancy. Just a couple pair of Anderson beans.

Boots, a fair bit.

If I include waders, it's enough to raise another child.

Passed on a opportunity to go on a Cape Buffalo hunt in Rwanda or Botswana IIRC when I was stationed in germany in 1987.
1500 bucks, some deal MWR had.
Kinda regret not doing it.

Never have done the paid hunt thing.

Discovered I was eligible for a Tn 10 dollar lifetime hunting license 3 yrs ago.
After retiring in 08 I "discovered" the Tn life license in 2017
Prior to that license and permits about 100 bucks a year.
So I Basically paid 1100 bucks I didnt have too.
Oh well.
Other states honor the DV license from TN and vice versa
But I dont see myself going anywhere except for maybe Maine.

All the other cost rolled up since 1975????
Cant even begin to imagine the total.

A couple million. I wouldn’t have bought a South Texas ranch if it weren’t for hunting.

Sam, get the sportsmen all together, you can park at S&M Fleet in Bemidji, that's a hop, skip, and a jump on highway 2.

I'll drive my Studebaker 47 truck, she smokes a bit, but she's tryin' to quit.
Always room for more.
