I’m on the hunt for a bolt action 22lr with a decent trigger and decent (better than basic 10/22) accuracy. I’m looking to spend less than $200 total (including shipping) if possible. I’m especially looking for something with a wood stock (my wife thinks they’re pretty), but open to others. Let me know if you have anything!

I'd suggest buying locally because shipping and FFL fees will eat up a big part of your budget.

I too agree with the above. However I'll add, I'd be looking for something like a Winchester Model 67 or Remington 514. Both single shot bolt action rifles that typically deadly accurate, fun to shoot, and usually not too pricey!
Good luck,
Ed

Zastava Serbia Model CZ99 and you can thank me later! Stock is unfinished so you can finish to your liking.

I recommend a CZ 452 of some variety, even if a bit over $200. Great reputation for accuracy. Mine is scary accurate and NOT for sale. Paid $200 new at a gun show 10 years ago.

I’d also advise avoiding Ruger, if accuracy is important.

+1 for the old Winchester and Remingtons! Shoot better than they should with the iron sights and aftermarket mags are available for the mag fed models. Winchester 67, 69, and Remington 510,511,512 are all fantastic pieces that can usually be found in decent shape for near that kind of money. Usually closer to $300, but the ones in good shape are worth that if you ask me, but I’m a bit partial👍🏽. And you may already know, but .22 RF is a gateway drug😂. Especially those good ones!

My Marlin/Glenfield 25n and 25mn .22 and .22 mag are great shooters. Not the best triggers in the world and the wood is not fancy but the /22 lr can be found for around 125 bucks. My 25n was bought for me by my father when I was 12 and I'm 50 something and still have it.

You just described a unicorn rifle. Please let me know if you are successful in your search.

If u can live with a plastic stock, the Ruger American will meet all your other criteria.

Check your local pawn shop. You will probably have to do some cleaning.

I found a used CZ in LGS for $200 a few years ago with a target/bull barrel and it's the cat's meow for target .22 shooting.

Like everything, there are compromises. "Pretty" wood is pretty expensive. I think the Savage Accu Trigger is decent. The one in my little .17HMR is great and accuracy is incredible.

As mentioned, a sub $200 .22LR with the desired features is probably a unicorn, however, not impossible to find. Patience and flexibility is the key.

A unicorn on the interweb but perhaps not locally.

581/582 Remington's are $250ish if you can find one....... The triggers leave a little to be desired but the accuracy is typically excellent.

I’ve picked up two 581 that were sub $200 n the last 2 months. Replaced trigger spring and both have nice 2.5 lb pulls, cost about $5 per.

+1 On this. These are the best shooting budget .22 rifles around.

Enjoy the hunt while it lasts!
