Been doing lots of indoor stuff, and one project upcoming on the list is to perform maintenance on all firearms. Gonna start with safequeens. What's your basic procedure, and what is the primary product you use for long term rust protection?

I use a light wipe of RIG applied with the wipe they sell. Kept all my guns from rusting when I was deployed and didn’t look at them for a year, I figure it’s as good as anything.

I am sold on Gunshield from Dyna-Tek. Just started using it this year, and wish I had started much sooner. It is slick, literally, but not oily.
Prior to that I have used different CLP, Slip2000, Specialist (WD-40), and EEZ-OX. Gunshield is a completely different type of product.

I've had good luck with the silicon impregnated "gun socks". Allen makes one, as do others. They prevent rust, and are breathable (key). https://www.cabelas.com/product/REDHEAD-RM-GUNSOCKS/3303653.utsWhen I lived in South Carolina I had a finely blued old Winchester Model 50 of my grandfathers that sat in a gunsock, in a breathable rifle case for 3 years in that humidity. Slight coat of some protectant (CLP, Barricade, whatever), into the gunsock.... should be good to go. Never a problem.

I use Barricade. For true long term storage (decades) I think the original goop type Cosmoline was the gold standard but I don't think you can get it any more.

Michiganroadkill turned me on to Gibbs Protectant for knives. No long term trials, but seems to work great on guns also.
A big can should do about 83 guns.

I've had very good luck with CorrosionX for both storage and for field use on guns that hunt in the rain. It's humid in my part of the State year-round and I haven't found anything that works better

Corrosion X great stuff on a saltwater boat, smells good. Fluid film is the final solution, it smells a little...but so do I.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

G96 Gun Treatment in the spray can. The best stuff I’ve ever used for firearms. It cleans, lubricates, and protects firearms in one step.
