Anyone here have one on a rifle of reasonable recoil, say a 9.3X62 or 375 H&H?

Have lots of Leupold 2-7s, but never had a Vortex of any kind on a rifle yet, and am perhaps going to be trying one out.

Thanks,
Ted

Ted,

I had one on a Tikka T3 Superlight, chambered in 300 Winchester Magnum. I was shooting 200gr bullets at 2900 FPS. I don't think that load kicks as hard as those that you are considering, but it was a fairly light rifle. Perceived recoil was... brisk.

Although I'm not a big fan of Vortex per se, that scope survived hundreds of rounds of the load mentioned. I sold it to a friend, for his adult son to use on a 30-06.

Decent scope. Clear and just the right size.
Have one and I ended up putting it on my 10/22.
I felt it’s Little too much like looking through a tube to be on a big game rifle.

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Bought one around 2009. To my eyes the glass wasn’t any better in bright daylight and was worse in low light than a Fullfield II 2-7x35 I had.

I got one on a rifle that I took in trade. I don't care for it and am 100% sure that I wouldn't put one on a rifle that I depended on for food and/or protection.

I would pick just about any Leupold, Redfield, or Weaver ahead of a Vortex Viper 2-7x32. I have a 2-7x33 VX2 on my 9.3x62 and an old 2-7x28 Vari-X II on my 375 H&H.

Thanks for the replies, Guys. Am looking at a 375 that has one on it with very few rounds fired.

Any idea what the scope would be worth used? I have no experience whatsoever with Vortex.

It would probably well quickly in the $125 - $150 range. i've owned 4 or 5, and really like 'em. Their BDC-type reticle is a real sweetheart, IMO.

I've just not had one on anything heartier than a 7x57, so I couldn't answer your original post.

If shipping from Canada isn't ludicrous, I might even be interested in yours, myself.

I think FC had a good suggestion on price. That scope had a cult following, so I wouldn't be surprised if it sold quick.

I have the Viper HS 1-4x24 on my 375AI. It has been loaned out a number of times and has quite a few bears behind it now. I have used it on 4 Kodiak bears. Riley shot one with it and about 8 total by all users. A friend shot a bull moose with it also.

Had an issue with a setting sun and a big Kodiak bear, but it was just a bad situation and no scope would have been any better than any other.

As far as value goes, there are lots of variations and I think the 2-7 was dropped quite awhile ago (IIRC). For most of the higher end ones I think they go higher. It would go very fast at the suggested value.
