Last year , after Josh Clarke released his Rifleman's Belt Axes, several folks asked about an histrically accirate belt knife to go along with them. The result is Josh's new "American Rifleman's knife" which is styled after the knives often carried on the American Frontier from the 1700s through the late 1800s. The blade is light ,well balanced with a straight spine. A very capable all around woods knife for Skinning ,camp chores or food prep.
The knives are 10.5" over all with 6" blades that are flat ground from US milled #1095 steel , 1/8" thick at the spine. It is ground thin with a hand rubbed satin finish with a flat blade spine and swedge ground tip .They have an industrial grade heat treat at 58 Rockwell. Joshua's deeply stamped "Broadsword" maker's mark is on the blade.
The handle design is the 4.5" long traditional rounded French trade trade style design The scales are all. VERY high grade air dried fancy woods that are attached with Brownells Acraglass with heavy guage hand set brass pins and were finished with Josh's blend of Marine grade Spar varnish and Tung oil for a traditional looking, yet weatherproof finish.
One of Josh's shop made Dark Brown Bridle leather sheaths. They are all hand saddle stitched and have a full welt.
