The exchange between Valsdad and Dryfly24 pretty much nailed it. It's a urban/rural thing, not a CA/rest of the US thing. If you have an urban mindset, you're more likely to vote blue. Whether you were born in MT, UT, CA, FL, AK or NY.... That said, CA is really, really attractive to the urban mindset types. From the rest of the US as well as the world.
