You are viewing a fine piece of Americana here, an original Marlin 336RC chambered in the traditional 30-30 Winchester cartridge, and wrapped in beautiful Black Walnut, with the fabled Perch Belly forearm.
The Craftsman who assembled these, took great pride in their work, and the resulting product as you see here holds true to that fact. These fine original pieces of iron are getting very difficult to find in this condition. These early rifles had Ballard rifling, pre-Micro Grove rifling, a cherished asset some reloaders long for, not that Micro Grove rifling cannot shoot cast bullets well, and additionally, the 1948-52 production years had the waffle top receivers, another asset collectors cherish.
If you are thinking about purchasing this item, I can assure you, someone else is too, so you better stop thinking and start typing those three words, “I’ll Take It” while this fine piece of iron can still be passed down by you to yours.
Hurry, because I just might be typing those three words myself….soon.

I have a 1948 30-30 RC, but the wood on mine is no where near as nice as this one....good luck with the sale.
