I have a ryobi 40V string trimmer, lawn mower and leaf blower. They are all excellent with long battery life. I was prepared to be disappointed with the first acquisition, the mower, but loved it. I bought it cheap on fleebay. The other purchases followed (the blower was free with purchase of the string trimmer) and kept up my high opinion of the product line. Nope, straight as John Wayne....just tired of changing oil, cleaning carbs and buying gas when it ain't needed. The JD 345 will remain, as will the stihl and Husky saws...until they make one outta electron juice that's worth a chit.

Another 20V DeWalt here. I already have DeWalt cordless tools so I was able to buy the bare tool pretty cheap. I've got 2 6-Amp HR, 6 4-Amp HR, and 2 2-Amp Hr batteries strewn about my house, shop, pickup, and camper. Even the 2 Amp HR batteries have enough for the 10Min of trimming @ the camper/lake place.
I've also purchased a bunch of the adaptors for 18V to 20V as it was way cheaper than buying new tools. Only thing to know about the adaptors is you can't leave the 18V tools plugged into the 20V batteries on the tool or just the adaptor when not in use, they'll discharge.
I can walk on water.......................but I do stagger a bit on alcohol.

I have the DeWalt 40 amp and think its great. Don't lose a battery though, they are expensive to replace.

Ive got a Dewalt 20v trimmer...The wife loves using it also so thats a HUGE plus. It works great and battery last a decent time. I use it for the fenced in part of our yard and around the house.
For outside of the yard and around the pasture and wooded areas I use a Stihl gasoline trimmer for the bigger/tougher jobs.

I bought the Milwaukee string trimmer, pole saw combo. got the hedge trimmer attachment as well. Works like a charm with over an hour in battery life. All my other battery tools are Milwaukee M18, so I can use them while the 12ah battery charges.

Be that as it may, I have two 20v Black and Decker trimmers. We have two because I lived in another state from my wife for 8 months a year for awhile. For suburban yards it works well enough for trimming around the lawns and such. One of them still sees some use on my 7Acre RANCH, especially if the wife wants to trims some foxtail before the seed heads dry.
Me, I have a gas trimmer for doing the real work, like "mowing" the 30'-40' firebreak around the place. If that dies, I may have to look into one of those 80V jobbers though. I've been using 40V lawnmowers for years and hope never to go back to gas.
If you limit yourself to American made at this time, you'll be using Grandpa's old hand saw and a scythe. Hopefully the last few months will bring a lot of this manufacturing back to the states but it will take years. You don't retool a factory and train new people overnight.

Anybody have a Makita? all my cordless tools are Makita so I'd stick with them, great battery life thus far.

My neighbor has a huge yard. He got a Makita string trimmer and he loves it. Also the batteries fit his Makita chain saw.

I've had a Greenworks 80V for a couple of years. It's been excellent. I've never missed the 2-cycle weed trimmer.

Bought one of the cheap Wal Mart trimmers. 20v I think. Works great for trimming around he house and shed were I weed eat every week usually get it all done on one charge. Now the other stuff that I trim usually every two weeks I need the gas weedeater but Im sure one of the big cordless ones would work as well. I will purchase a bigger and better cordless one in the future. It is so nice not having to mess with the gas and starting the damn things plus you end up smelling like gas by the time you are done. Cordless is the way to go unless you are cutting a big area or thick stuff.
I've always been different with one foot over the line.....

I've had a Greenworks 80V for a couple of years. It's been excellent. I've never missed the 2-cycle weed trimmer. Greenworks is 1 of the highest rated brands, with a great warranty....I'm looking at 1 of their pole hedge trimmers now, extra batteries are expensive.
