What size groups at what distance are you getting with your Factory setup?
About any aftermarket barrel will be more accurate than the factory Ruger barrel, unless you got lucky with a tight grouping Ruger. The factory barrel is designed to function with all 22LR ammunition. The aftermarket barrels typically have a tighter chamber. You can send your factory barrel to CPC and have it rechambered and crowned to shoot better with a close to stock look.
I like the Beyer barrel for its light weight, accuracy, threaded muzzle. You pay for what you get.

My stock 10/22 with an aftermarket trigger is an honest 1/2 at 50 yards with surprisingly CCI stingers.

thanks Green mountain is your best bet.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Put one together with an 18" Fedderson that is real close to factory. Had to do some slight sanding on a factory wooden stock. It shoots Eley and RWS subsonic hp's real well , only ones I've tried so far. The Fedderson is .635 on the end.

I was under the impression the GM sporters need a little bit of inletting near the receiver. Dunno what happens when CPC sets back and rechambers a standard 10/22 bbl (as far as bbl to stock gap).
Rimfire Sports is out of the blued 20" GM sporters.
I too am wanting a light hunter 10/22, w a fingergroove stock.

Shaw doesn't get a lot of play in the 10/22 aftermarket. I have one of their bulls and am happy with it.

GM sporters do require the barrel channel to be opened up just forward of the receiver. CPC doesn't set the barrel back very far, 0.187" to 0.250" according to their site, so there shouldn't be any need to do any inletting. Randy will do the absolute minimal set back if he knows that the barrel is going back into a mannlicher-style stock, so that the barrel will still extend beyond the stock's end cap. I've had CPC do their full tune-up on three 10/22s, twice with GM sporter barrels and a mannlicher with the factory barrel. I think that a CPC full tune-up is a better value for most people than just swapping out after-market parts. Randy's full tune-up is a holistic approach, in that he reworks the rifle so that all of the parts fit and work together in harmony. www.ct-precision.com

I had a 20" Shilen barrel, sporter contour that was a tack drive. I gave it to my dad. Great shooter.

My Shilen 22" long stainless steel sporter barrel is very accurate and shoots any ammo I've tried in it.

With the right lot of CCI MiniMag HPs, you could be surprised. The first group at 4 o'clock was fired rather carelessly to sight-in with the new rings. Then, with the scope adjusted, a concentrated effort produced the second group. The likes of that centered five-shot 50 yard group shown here do not happen every time, but often enough to make that barrel a keeper.
Every day’s an adventure.
