I want to take mine out next week. Picked up some cardboard to pattern it this weekend with 2 3/4 6 shot. Choked Improved and Modified.

I have an old (from the 30's) 16ga take-down pump I'd like to take out, but no sxs.

I’ve got a 1950s Belgium Sweet 16 in the safe. Maybe someday I’ll take it out to chase a gobbler. Tomorrow I’m going to fondle a side by side 20 that I’m considering buying as a summer turkey gun project...

Absolutely.

Sweet 16s too.

I have a field grade LC Smith 16ga with imp mod and full chokes 2 trigger extractor gun with 2 9/16" chambers . Not a real problem as I can load the short shell. Been concentrating on 1 and 1 1/8 oz loads. Sharptail grouse and pheasant hunting. MB

Thanks, guys! I’ll see how she patterns tomorrow out to 25 and make a decision!

The 16 is my go gauge for upland hunting.

I use SXS's and O/U's both, but mostly SXS's. I especially like Fox's and LC Smith's.

I know this is the Turkey Hunting forum but I have used it for turkey too, but I'd rather use a 12 for variety if not anything else.

It was very windy here today, so it didn’t get done. With snow and rain in the forecast, it might not happen tomorrow, either, but I have it on the schedule!

Boy, at 20 yards the Improved barrel throws a broad pattern with both #6 and #4 shot. The Modified barrel is better with both, but I think 20 would have to be the max.

At 20 I would be shooting #7 1/2 shot.

Beautiful gun! And those Peters’ boxes bring back a lot of memories.

Been a while since I looked at shot size restrictions for spring turkey hunting in WI. So I just looked it up and found the regs only give the "largest" shot sizes allowed, nothing about the "smallest" that I could find. Reading about guys results with smaller TSS shot got me to thinking...
