Spoke to the owner of Williams Bottom Metals today. They have officially closed their doors and gone out of business. I asked to purchase their remaining inventory, but was told they had nothing left to sell. Poor health amongst other reasons is what I was told.
I think we need to find somebody who is willing to make a good quality aftermarket Pre-64 and Post-64 Orbendorph style Bottom Metal in aluminum at a fair market price. $300 seems high these days from some of the other few in business. It’s become a monopoly.

That's too bad.
And I agree on aluminum bottom metal, only choices are PTG or Sunny Hill that I am aware of. We need a mid range option.

Looks like you would first have to convert the Winchester Model 70 into a Remington 700.

I agree and I would include nice bottom metal made of steel for the Howa actions.

PTG makes only post-64 units. They are “decent” quality at best. Blackburn are nice, but damn $450 a Unit is plain stupid. We need somebody here to step up and start making them.
I don’t think the tooling is that difficult, once the program is set.

Who makes Stocky’s model 70 bottom metal? I always assumed it was rebranded pt&g but perhaps if not they could be talked into offering it for pre 64s ...

Wayne York makes aluminum bottom metal for the Howa Mini action now. I have one and couldn't be happier to get rid of the hideous plastic trigger guard and DBM. Thanks, Dinny

What ever happened to trigerguard1 (Matt Williams)? I think Matt sold his share of the company to his father but I may be wrong. When Matt was on the 'Fire I bought steel bottom metal for my Rem. 700 Grice Wholesale special in .35 Whelen and also a steel trigger guard and a spring steel extractor for my New Haven M70 7MM-08 Featherweight. The M70 had a cheap cast steel extractor and a cheap painted pot metal trigger guard from New Haven but the floor plate was steel. The bluing matched perfectly. Too bad they went out of business.

Indeed on the comment on Matt selling out. I have a set of his Talley-like rings and bases on my custom pre-64 M70 from that time. Nice stuff.

Drat! I am in need of three stainless Williams extractors. I need one magnum and two standards if anyone has extras or know of any place that has them in stock.

I just found this out today as well. I was trying to get in touch with Ross because my Winchester 70 PTG bottom metal left a little to be desired. The slot in the floorplate isn’t deep enough to provide adequate engagement and the floorplate can slide sideways. Tightening up the hinge would help as well. It’s a shame, because the PTG definitely has some potential. I sent them the picture below along with along with some constructive feedback, but no reply. Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead.
