What I don't care for is reacting to an X% rise in operating costs by upping prices by X%+Y%.

I haven’t stepped foot in a sit-down restaurant in over 30 years. Not even Cici’s...?

I don't see how a (private) business isn't free to do this, just the same as anyone is free to avoid said business if they do.
I can imagine there are some large increases in operating costs due to all of this nonsense, but I rather just adjust the menu versus a "service charge." My thinking...... If they raise menu prices X%. It’s here for good. If they put the China flu / ‘rona fee on the ticket. It’ll eventually have to go away. Just my 2 pennies.

If your ever in Boynton Beach, Florida please stop by. There won't be a China flu surcharge, and the food, drinks and service will be excellent. It's hard to please everyone in the restaurant business but you dang sure better try to. https://bananaboatboynton.com/

If you don't want to pay to eat out, don't eat out. The things people complain about. People should be able to charge whatever they want, shouldn't they? Or maybe we need the government to step in and protect you from a couple of bucks to eat out. Better yet, why should you have to pay at all? Don't you deserve a free meal? It's the least that business owner can do, right? Welfare mentality. If you can't afford to eat out, stay home.

On the other hand my weekly food bill has gone up more than a little since the supermarket discontinued sale flyers, and pretty much sales - the few they have are pathetic. And have cut store hours as if that makes a difference. They say it's only temporary for the "emergency" but I smell a rat. Small town but people will get back into the habit of 60 miles to Walmart and load up with a couple week's worth. By decent sales prices comparable with Walmart regular prices, good service, extended hours they broke the Walmart habit. Interesting to see if it works both ways.

It's the least that business owner can do, right? Welfare mentality. lol Project much...? No man, just the idiocy of this board. Y'all don't want to support small business owners, then don't. It's all about freedom to do as you please until it cost you 2 bucks. You can't afford 2 bucks, stay home. Nobody's making you eat out. And, it was just a general statement to no one in particular, but I see who it triggered.
