Last thur. was in my old gun/hardware store, they had a 303 A take down ser#. dated it to 1912, very good shape, looked all original to me . Tang was even nice shape! It looked like added finish, shot gun butt. went back today and it was on hold , they were asking $699.00 for it! Kinda Kicked myself for not putting it in LayAway! I Knew better when I left the store, but had just bought a S&W 38 a few weeks ago! Dont see guns in that kinda shape anymore, well 99s anyway!

When one gets away there's always another one even better waiting around the corner.

the way the used gun market is right now, you never know what is going to show up on the used gun rack at good prices to a person who knows what he is looking at

It’s happened to all of us.

My worst offense was an 1899H in 25-35 for $800.

I don't see the 303 very often but when I do see one, it seems cheaper than the 300 Savage chambering.

The 303s dont seem to move to well, in this area. Now days I only keep rifles that I hunt with, but thought Id get this one and sell another one! My Collecting days are over!

Keep an ear to the ground in case the new owner is looking for someone able to drill and tap a 99 for scope mounting...

Collectible condition 99's are almost as rare as real collectors willing to preserve those rifles intact.

Yes Sir.
I despise black guns. I just don't like them! But! Some of the best old cool wood and blued steel guns turn up at the black gun shops! Usually under priced!

Black guns have their place. Not my cuppa tea, but I reckon I would be a tad foolish not to have a scoped AR, a musette bag full of magazines, and an old ammo can full of .223's set aside for a rainy day. One's enough for me- after scratching that itch it was back to the stuff that matters.

The last time I "let one slip by" it caused a social faux pas. However, I don't worry about the ones that get away because the river is always full of fish. Odds are that there will be another cool 99 showing up soon.
