I was checking out guns today at lgs and came across a Winchester model 12 in 16 gauge with a modified choke. Gun was in very nice condition and they were asking $800. Is that a good or high price?

Way high for a field model but could be a good deal if it was a trap, pigeon or other special order configuration. Would need more detail and photos to know for sure but odds are if it is a plan barrel with no rib, it would be worth $4-500 around here.
