Let Tyee out to pee this morning. Went back to get him and he wasn't around. But mom was in the back yard flipping out. Jumping, stomping, snorting. She wasn't looking at me but beside the house. Knew what was going on so I got pants on went to find him. He was nudging it with his nose. Got Tyee to heal and took this photo. Few minutes later mom calmed down and gathered up her kid and wandered off into the woods.

Last year I cut down a couple of good size Doug Fir below our house that were dying. Went to the shop to get the bulldozer to winch them out of the woods and came back 15 minutes later. Went to place a choker on the largest log and a small fawn jumped up about 2' away. Scared the daylights out of me. I assume mom put it there after I had fallen the tree.

Pretty cool stuff Steve.
Glad your dog was nice to it. Not sure what ours might have done. Whippets have a tendency to kill little things.

The other day a robin chick fell out of its nest and he was pretty concerned about it. Just laid down beside it. It's parents were flipping out, too. He's brought baby mice without a scratch to the door all worried about them.
