I toyed with snagging a 30-06 to have it made into a 35 Whelen but need a new safe first (literally) after my last 2 acquisitions. 😇😔
Where in TX are you?

not in texas, but would travel there for the hunt. i've killed a lot of elk with my 30-06 but the 3-4 nilgai outfitters i want to use all have a 300 win mag minimum, and they suggest a 338 win mag. oh well, we'll see.

Lived in South TX for 3 years. Never got to shoot a nilgai, but had a couple friends who did with a 270 and an 06, respectively. Both one shot kills. I'm assuming the outfitters don't want to deal with tracking, but it's not like they're escaping buffalo...

I live in S.Texas, and have killed way more than my share of Nilgai, and I use a .243 A.I. if you think you need a 300WM or bigger you should use what ever makes you happy. Rio7
