Good shooting Ted how much less capacity than the 7 Rem Mag? thanks Kurt Finally got around to checking this out, Kurt. The reformed brass is around 75gr, the original 82 gr of water. I'm sure the freebore in the rifle is allowing me to get the velocities shown. The powder is definitely slower than 4831, as 66 gr with the 160 gr ABond at close to 3000 fps is no slouch of a load, primer edges still appear as round as before firing, and there is no case head or rim expansion. Going to keep using the same ten cases and monitor primer pockets. The accuracy is more than acceptable for a hunting rifle, 1 3/16", with the old Leupold at 7X. Next trip will be shooting at 300 meters on our silhouette range. Might need to change the targets for that effort. Ted

Okay, Guys, here's the results from today. Good field conditions, light wind, overcast sky, shot from makeshift rest using jacket and gloves to simulate hunting situation. 68 gr load had noticeable bolt lift, primers show some flattening. Pretty sure the powder burn rate is near H1000. Next trip will be with 150 gr Partitions and 160 Accubonds at 300 meters. Going to hit the sack. You all have a great Sunday with your families. God bless, Ted

Do you get the dreaded donut when shoulder material is now neck? Not so far. When I did this many years ago for use in my Model 54J there was never any problem either. Ted Well mathman, been keeping a close check on this and after seven firings, three of the reformed cases have moved enough of the shoulder into the neck to form a doughnut. Bullets will not slip through the necks of these fired case . Guess we knew this would happen, but six firings with no problem is not too bad. Twenty reformed cases will give me 100 rounds of shooting. So, going to form twenty new cases, and next trip to the range will be with some 150s and 160s ahead of Re19 at 300 meters. Ted.

The S&H has been a family favorite for 60 years. Great cartridge, this one likes 160gr Nosler partitions and IMR4350. Doesn't get shot as much now as when my father had it built, kinda in semi-retirement. I like that rifle!
