Hardly ever cocks on an empty chamber. Less than 50/50 on a loaded chamber.When closing the bolt handle down it sorta "slips through"How's that for a technical description haha.
Had it forever and would hate to part with it based on a worn part.

Nothing's 'worn' - it just needs some attention...
First thing to check after removing the action from the stock - turn it upside down and check trigger movement
resistance (i.e. the spring must provide pressure even at rest; if not, then the adjustment nuts need to be worked so as to provide adequate spring pressure to the trigger... to adjust, you need two 1/4" thin wrenches.
Next - while holding the trigger back, apply pressure to the forward end of the sear (square end) where it's spring lies underneath.. It should move freely and return to set position easily.. IF it does not do that, then remove its pivot pin (very large head on one side), remove the sear and its spring.. Ensure that sear AND the recess it's in are clean, clean, clean... Do NOT under any circumstances spray it with anything - especially WD-40... Leave that for old farm machinery..
