First batch of the season today.

Hard to beat fresh made vanilla.

Little while longer, blue Berries will be ready to pick. Makes good ice cream too.
As does fresh peaches.

We would make homemade peach from the orchard when I was growing up. Not sure how to top that honestly.

We used to make burnt sugar ice cream when I was a kid. Put cup of sugar in a skillet with water and cook it down and add to mix.

Try my dads favorite. Put a pack of graham crackers in the mix. Stuff is great!

I've posted this before, but for those who haven't seen it here it is again.

Homemade Chocolate Chip Mint Ice Cream

6 Eggs
4 Cups Heavy Whipping Cream
4 Cups Half & Half
1 Small Can Evaporated Milk
1 1/2 Cups Sugar
3/4 Cup Light Corn Syrup
3 teaspoons Vanilla
3/4 teaspoon Salt
3/4 Cup Creme de Menthe Liqueur
1 Cup (or more) Mini Chocolte Chips
1/2 teaspoon Green Food Color (Optional)

Mix it all together with a mixer, pour it in your ice cream maker and crank away (or plug it in like I do). When finished transfer to a Rubbermaid or Tupperware style container and place in the freezer for 3-4 hours before serving.

We have also done other flavors by substituting the Creme de Menthe and chocolate chips with the following.

Butterscotch Schnapps and Toffee Chips

Banana Liqueur and Chopped Pecans or Walnuts

Peppermint Schnapps and Candy Cane Pieces

Cherry Schnapps and Chopped Black Cherries w/ Black Walnuts

Know fat, know flavor. No fat, no flavor.

I tried going vegan, but then realized it was a big missed steak.

Beat 2eggs and 3/4 cup sugar until beaten.

Gradually add 2 cups of heavy cream and then 1cup of milk.

Add vanilla (or fruit mixture) and add to machine.

The best.

Best put on your diabeetes pants.

Years back my parents had a hand crank freezer, one hook was broke off, you had to hold the top down, freezing the hand even with a rag . When my father bought an electric freezer, it did not taste as good.

I used to go to an International Harvester tractor collector club, and they churned ice cream from a PTO, and a hit and miss engine.
All fresh stuff, berries or fruit in season. Great memory.

My dad used to go to the tractor shows, I’ve seen them make it like that.
