Despite dips in recent years in gun violence and the sanctioned stay-at-home orders, Chicago saw its deadliest Memorial Day weekend in four years.
At least eight people were fatally shot over the weekend and 24 were injured in shootings as of Monday afternoon, according to Chicago Police data
Last year, there were at least five people killed over the Memorial Day weekend, down from at least six fatalities in 2018, 2017 and 2016, according to Chicago police and CNN affiliate WGN.
This year's victims include a 16-year-old boy who was shot just after midnight Saturday while walking on the city's South Side. Police records show a suspect is in police custody.
Chicago's stay-at-home orders are still in effect until the end of the month, the city's website states. Under the order, places like bars, nightclubs and dine-in restaurants are closed. City residents are allowed to participate in "outdoor activity," which includes walking, running, and biking.
But the order also bans gatherings of 10 or more people, along with people being outdoors without observing social distancing.

Spot a couple of 18 wheelers on the south side- - - - -one filled with Hi-Point pistols and the other one full of ammo. Let nature take its course. After about a week, send in the National Guard to shoot the survivors. Problem solved, or at least minimized!

We need to airdrop more ammo! And some shooting instructors. 1 in 4 ratio sucks. One would think with high capacity magazines they could shoot 'em a lot, if not good, to make up for it.

10 shot and killed with 39 others shot and wounded seems like a rousing affirmation of Chicago's restrictive firearms laws.

My bet us they end with their 2nd worst shooting year This is after the mayor, earlier in the year, was falsely crediting good police work for a decline in shootings. In reality, mother nature deserved the credit. But the groids are now going to extra effort to make for the the lack of shooting opportunities last winter. It is amazing what gun control and liberal democrats combined together can accomplish.

The hit ratio in Chicago is so poor because they are at least complying with social distancing regs. They have difficulty making hits when the target gets beyond 6 feet or so. Any closer would violate social distancing.
