I've been seeing several manufactures produce sleeping bags that are water-resistant. My question to all of you is, can one use a spray and simply apply it to your existing bag and make it water-resistant without diminishing the properties of the bag (i.e. breathablility).

Thanks
jt

Maybe you could but it'd cost you a few bottles @ 13-14 bucks a whack. Plus, there is the washing and drying that goes along with treatment with Nikwax or Grainger's (sp?) which are the 2 best brands I've used.

The better bag makers are using shells made from Pertex or similar microfiber nylons. The density of the weave contributes a lot to the water resistance. Just adding DWR to regular nylon won't do the same thing.

I'd recommend a DWR bivy from TiGoat instead.

The Bill of Rights is just that. It is not the Bill of Needs as determined by some liberal know it all.

Politicians and diapers should be changed often for precisely the same reason.
