Found this one sitting dead cedar tree about 5 feet above the water while out fishing today, northern water snake? I'm fishing at Truman lake in Missouri this week.

That's what we're thinking too, it was sitting at eye level when we noticed it 12 feet from the boat while bass fishing in the back of a cove. It was hard to get a good look at the head from that angle, southeastern Missouri also has water moccasins too.

Squidge, Judging from the taper of the tail, and the overall “stockiness” of the snake.....it appears that it can be a water moccasin that has shed recently or living in nice clean water! memtb
