My property is the second to last on a 3/4 mile dead end road with 4 houses/properties on it. End of the road is about 200 yds up the lane past my driveway and ends at a field on the back side of a 450 acre farm. Many have dumped unwanted "pets" at the end of the lane. Large quantities of cats and 2 pits have not made it past venturing onto my property, and the neighbor has dropped many more of both. Any other dog that doesnt act agressive is turned over to the animal rescue folks, cats dont get a pass as they have a trap neuter release deal that requires that they are released where caught and I and the owner of the neighboring farm refuse to have that. On a side note cat carcasses make excellent coyote bait around here!

Of course dum women luv to save pits

She should have given it more hugs and bacon strips. Would have tamed down its genetic urge to kill every living creature around it.

Unless they are a rescue.

Funny how county-run shelters are often pushing pit bulls on their ads and billboards.

Where I grew up in the country with goats, sheep, etc. , Any loose dog was shot on site. And the owner would have no problem with it.

Pits are not a dog persons dog. Why have one?

I had a pit on my route that seemed pretty cool.

The owner seemed a bit neurotic and was telling me how the pit had saved her twice from attacking dogs.

The bastard turned on me one day.

My hand was on my .45 and my mind was trying to decide just how bad was this already frantic woman gonna take seeing her beloved pooch's attempt at the losing end of a Mozambique drill.

Screw you! I'm voting for Trump again!

I had to put one down that was as wild as a deer one time. No way I was risking my family to that sum bitc.h. I popped him one day as we were leaving for vacation. (He just happened to show himself) A week later I found it behind the house in the woods. I love dogs , but I don’t trust them and especially one that would not even let you approach it.

You ever seen a retriever that doesn't retrieve?

A pointer that doesn't point?

A hound that doesn't sniff?

A herder that doesn't herd?

With enough training maybe you could discourage these traits, but you'll never get rid of them.

Yup, totally agree, and have always voiced this opinion!

Don't misunderstand me here. I'm sad you have to eliminate a whole breed. But I have not seen a good pit in my life. Well maybe I saw a dead one on a gravel road once. I have a part terrier of some kind rescued from the Prison's Puppies for Parole. They never said what felony the dog did to get locked up. Tried to tell me he was part pitt. Narrow jaw and nose. Not built right. Good dog and protects the home by barking from inside. Never offered to bite. Just don't let him hear the great grand daughter cry. He really gets nervous. I won't tolerate a pit bull. SSS! Be Well, Rustyzipper.

My take is women get pit rescues because they think they can change them. Just like dating an abusive cheating boy friend and/or husband. Many of the gals worship the ghetto lifestyle

Guys with insecurity issues own them because they think it makes them look tough.

Both groups weren't raised with animals and have zero experience living and raising and training and understanding animal behavior. They have no clue how to properly take care of and manage their animals and the project their feelings on them a lot. "Oh he would never hurt anyone and he loves children". Just clueless and dangerous group. Like giving an 8 year old a case of dynamite and a box of scorpions.

I did reply to you and as a matter of fact. The post #14910381) was on 5-25-20 and I do have a few pictures which I would be quite reluctant to put out on the internet. It's not hard to eliminate up to 7 or 8 a year. If you are ever down this way I'll be glad to show you the 70 acre place the pits and their hybrids are raised. PM me with your phone number and I'll be glad to tell you all about it.

I have one animal under my care, a 9 year old pit. Best dog I’ve had. I trust her more than about all but 3 people on this planet.

A 19 year old girl was severely mauled here last week as she walked a pit from the shelter. She had walked it many times and it was her favorite. It chewed up both arms and a leg, dragging her into the brush. Other walkers heard her screaming, and called the cops. She was lifeflighted to Missoula for surgery. Thankfully she is going to be all right. The police found the dog, which had finally left the girl and shot it. I have no tolerance for pits, or any other dogs running. I shot 2 dogs chasing deer a while back, and shot a dog chasing my boys lambs a few years back. The owners kept their other dog a little closer to home.

Do you think there’s a puppy mill in that trailer park?

in my part of the world, any pit that's running loose is a target of opportunity.
