I I just picked up a box of NOS Winchester-Western 375 H&H Magnum ammunition in a white cardboard box with the big red Super X on the front. The cartridge dividers are cardboard as well. These are 270 grain Power Point (S.P.) with the following markings: Winchester Western Super X, 375 H&H Magnum, X375H1, Lot # 54PL61, the cases are W-W Super headstamped. Does anyone know how old or about how old these are? They are in very nice condition; no corrosion on the brass case or exposed lead tip.

Does the box have an orange "Winchester" banner across the top? If not, it is pre-1983. If it has a "keep out of reach of children" warning, it is post-1962. Might be able to give better info with a picture.

Thanks for the reply. There is no Orange on the box; white box with red and blue markings / lettering. There is the: "Warning Keep out of reach of children" in small letters under the large Super X logo. It also has in even smaller letters under that warning: Read all warnings on package before using.

No expert here, by any means, but I remember purchasing those type of boxes of ammo in the early 80's, maybe even as late as 1985. Seems like the new box styles appeared in the mid 80's, with the orange, as wildhobbybobby stated.

Yes I remember buying yellow box with the Super X in the 1960's and early 1970's. Then I remember buying the stuff with orange on the box in the late 1980's, initially with the red plastic shell holder and then later with hard styrafoam(?) shell holders. I was in the Army and overseas for much of the time in between, although I did hunt and shoot. I was probably limited in ammo choices. Before I went in the Win was the Yellow with Red Super X and Federal was Red with Black and White Stripe. Culture shock on a lot of stuff back then.

I have a collection of Winchester "bear" boxes featuring a grizzly on the box. Have 3 or 4 in 375 H&H for 1951 M-70. Also have them in 348 WCF. These were made from the 1940s through late 1950s. Some possibly as late as 1960. These have become collector W-W ammunition boxes. They are rarer now.
