I wanted a deer rifle / brush gun to hunt in Ohio and Michigan that was less than 42" long, less than 8 lbs and fit me like a glove. I wanted all of this without breaking the bank, i wanted to be under $1000 I started with the ruger .450 bushmaster in go-wild camo, cut the barrel down 2" and re-threaded muzzle brake, added a boyds stock with 13 1/4 LOP, used talley rings and topped with Hawke endurance 1-4. Total weight with sling 7.8 lbs Total length 40.5 inches total custom fit under $800 (optics not included)
I would be interested in how well that Hawke Endurance holds up! I like the lower powered scopes for size and FOV benefit. Good luck to you Pard!
I used to be a Leupold junkie for years. I was talked into buying a Hawke about 7-8 years ago buy my local proshop and now every rifle is topped with Hawke optics. I love the durability, reliability, clarity and a huge fan of the wide angle series and L4a DOT reticle. I have a 1-4, 2.5-10, 1.5-6 and a few 3-9's. I heard they may be working on a 1-8!
